Inspired by the timeless elegance of Saratoga Springs and its celebrated equestrian heritage, this AC Hotel by Marriott reimagines the city’s rich history through a contemporary hospitality experience. Located in the heart of Saratoga Springs, New York, this AC Hotel by Marriott draws inspiration from the city’s rich history, mineral springs, and celebrated equestrian culture. Designed as a contemporary hospitality destination, the hotel blends the refined European aesthetic of the AC brand with a strong connection to place, creating a distinctive guest experience rooted in the character of Saratoga Springs.

A rhythm of horizontal and vertical forms appears throughout the hotel, referencing the railings of the Saratoga Race Course, the surrounding tree-lined streets, and the vernacular architecture found throughout the region. These linear elements are balanced by curved walls, arched openings, and softened furnishings that echo the graceful loop of the racetrack and the historic bridges woven throughout the city.

A Material Palette Inspired by Saratoga at Dawn

The material palette was inspired by Saratoga at dawn. Warm wood tones, darkened metals, and textured finishes reflect the craftsmanship of local stables and barns, while muted greens draw from the patina of the city's iconic mineral spring spouts. Soft neutrals and layered textures capture the quiet atmosphere of an early morning training session as the first light of day settles across the landscape. Throughout the lobby, library lounge, restaurant, bar, and guestrooms, materials are intentionally restrained and carefully detailed. Integrated millwork, sculptural lighting, custom furnishings, and clean architectural forms create moments of warmth and sophistication while maintaining the understated elegance that defines the AC Hotel brand.

A Contemporary Hospitality Experience Rooted in Place

Designed to support a seamless guest journey from arrival through departure, the hotel balances vibrant social spaces with moments of quiet retreat. Public spaces encourage gathering and connection, while guestrooms offer a calm and refined retreat through thoughtfully curated materials, lighting, and furnishings. Rather than relying on literal references, the design expresses Saratoga Springs through proportion, texture, and materiality - creating a contemporary hotel interior that feels both timeless and deeply connected to its setting. The result is a hospitality experience that reflects the spirit of Saratoga Springs while delivering the elevated design and guest experience expected of an AC Hotel by Marriott.

Laconia Country Club Laconia, NH

A reorientation of space, sightline, and experience transforms the clubhouse at Laconia Country Club – shifting from a series of inward-facing rooms into a cohesive, light-filled environment connected to the golf course beyond. From the moment of entry, a clear visual axis draws guests through the space, connecting the lobby, bar, dining areas, and enclosed porch into a continuous flow. What was once fragmented now unfolds as a sequence – each space linked visually and experientially, guiding movement naturally outward through the clubhouse. Arrival is intentionally redefined. Rather than allowing the eye to drop toward the existing stair, a vertical accent wall establishes a strong focal point – visually grounding the space and directing attention forward. This subtle intervention creates clarity and orientation, reshaping the first impression without altering the underlying structure.
